Raducanu working with Bates this week. Which is a little upsetting...

I thought I saw him with her at Wirral - so maybe just the familiarity factor? It's not like she seems to have needed that mega coach thing to win her first major, so I'm not particularly worried.

The Wirral was back in November 2018. It's strange to dispense with a coach when she's just  won a major. Although not sure how many coaches she's had this year. Also her father seems to be a big influence. But he's not got a tennis background unlike  Judy with Jamie and Andy.

This Paul must have seen the same Instagram story post as me. It's not available now as it's past the 24 hour limit, but was showing around 1am last night when I checked after seeing the draw, but someone replied saying she was in London on Friday, although that's by no means an official source.

What's the issue with Jeremy Bates? (I have no idea)

Don't get me going biggrin Maybe just personal prejudice but I actually dislike the man (I've been next to him when he's been quite rude to tournament officials, doesn't say hello to GB youngsters or players who aren't part of the LTA group, very dismissive of Sam Murray once, when she should have got a Wimbly quali wildcard and he said (quietly) to the guy he was with, well, really, why would you give a wildcard to someone who's 30 (she wasn't even 30), and the list goes on....)

AND I also think he's a poor coach (again just my opinion, but again, based on sitting next to/near the guy on lots of occasions - very negative, risk-averse, thinks he walks on water, very 'old-fashioned', stuffy, I would say). Apologies to his mother, if she's reading this - just my opinion.

Looks like Harriet has had a wc into the main draw according to dart rankinking

Dart are currently showing Ms. Dart as a withdrawal.

The reason people think she has a WC is that all the people on the withdrawal list coloured  pink have MDWC and Harriet is in pink. Emma also on the withdrawal list and in pink. Dart is pretty accurate usually.

Ah pity if as seems the case Harriet has withdrawn. She did seem an unlikely MD WC.

Fran was clearly also high enough ranked for Q but it seems she wasn't interested. Jodie too could have got in but a) that wasn't clear until pretty recently and b) I think she is still getting back in swing after an injury issue.

Harriet and Fran would have been qualifying seeds with it looking like attractive draws and decent points available.

I find Darts Rankings a great source - although why Darts and Tennis??! - what I wish they would do though is clarify the colour coding and shading they do with some sort of "key" as it is never entirely clear!!

But, yes, the pink shading definitely implies Harriet is in with a wild card, but not definitively clear either!!

Katie B is defending 20 points from Indian Wells 2019 where she reached rd 2 in Qualies.

Heather was also in Qualies in 2019 but did not do as well. She gets 10 points for the main draw here.

Harriet and Emma are not defending any points from 2019. Indeed any points that Emma gains will add to her tally.

Regarding the Dartsranking pink, if it was just Harriet then it might have been more plausible, but as DF points out, Zavatska is also in pink, as is Lauren Davis who withdrew from Chicago last week (to allow Harriet in as a LL) and would have made the main draw directly, and was also not part of the original 8 MDWCs. To have one or two very late WC changes, maybe, but to have 3 seems far less likely, especially as neither overseas player in question is typical 'WC material', but as others say, I guess we'll find out soon once the main draw is released, which I believe is after 11pm UK time tonight.

The qualifying draw is available on the WTA app, and the order of play on the website. (Neither has both yet !)
Katie B is first match up at 19:00 UK time.

Well, well. The WTA has woken up, and the draw is now available on the website.
Katie is seeded 20, but is drawn to meet Trevisan WR66 seeded 2 or Baptiste in the second round.
