Well done Bath - out of interest, how is Beth the 8th seed, she is lower ranked than the opponent she beat today by some distance?

Beth was 8th seed in qualifying. She's unseeded in the MD.

In general Beth has been doing rather well in these recent 60K and 80K events, during qualifying and again here in the MD, with now a couple of recent top 300 wins and other competitive performances.

They are the right level for her doubles but they are proving good for her singles too, with consistent wins and points gathering. She seems to have moved up a level in recent months. Very good to see.

It'll help her singles ranking quite a bit as well. She still has some one point counters, and this win is worth 17 points (12+5), nett 16 and perhaps a 50 place rise.

Not sure if that is a career best win - just pips Ylena In-Albon from earlier in the month who was WR258 at the time (now WR206)

Edit:- checking back to Montreaux - Steven said that win was at the time, so up another notch  biggrin

As per lots of people above, great to see consistently decent results and scores from Beth.

Yes, the move up a level has really reaped rewards, both singles and dubs.

She's 'only' 26, and was someone who, by her own admission, didn't really like travelling before and (just my impression) took a little while, what with one thing and another, to find her feet and 'grow into' the pro side of tennis.

Really pleased for her....

Beth and Estelle dropped the first set when they were broken in the tenth game, but have got going in the second set *4-1.
But there's a MTO - there have been several today on the various courts.

L16:- Estelle Cascino (FRA) / Sarah Beth Grey (GBR) CR371 (169+202) [4] def Kristina Dmitruk (BLR) / Diana Shnaider (RUS) UNR (1179+UNR) 4-6 6-3 10-7

Good effort from the teenagers to make it so close.

Lissey and Liv up next on the same court.

L16:- Alicia Barnett (GBR) / Olivia Nicholls (GBR) CR440 (216+224) def Anna Kubareva (BLR) / Iryna Shymanovich (BLR) CR783 (472+311) 6-4 7-5

They were 2-5* 15-40 in the second set, and took that and the next four games for the loss of just three more points !

Great to see Alicia and Olivia keeping on rolling with the already this year GB top 500 doubles #1 and #2 ranking rises Aberdaberdonian refers to in the Top 500 thread in the entries and rankings section.

With this QF so far they are now showing as live ranked 206 and 207. They will next meet Beth+.

Think some here are better at spotting appropriate Wimbledon WCs than those who give them out and from memory I don't think they even allocated the full quota of wonen's doubles WCs. I think they maybe didn't quite fit a rankings algorithm which didn't take accout of time out or momentum from a regular partnership. Fair play to the girls for pushing on and hopefully they will put that one beyond doubt for next year.

Very good to see.

24 points for reaching the QF, but not a counter for Beth and Lissey, and only a slighy improvement for Liv. But they all have points to drop from 2019, so these will help cover.

Eden and Jessika have taken the first set.

Unfortunately Eden+ couldn't complete the set, losing 6-4 4-6 [6-10]

I fear the LTA are more likely to allocate a doubles WC for Wimbledon to Emma Raducanu + Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, going by the recent homecoming event.
