Felix Gill

I've just realised that poor Felix doesn't have his own thread..... which must be rectified smile

Felix and Arthur are currently our best two 2002-ers, despite having been nowhere in the LTA lists several years ago and overshadowed by players far more heralded (by some).

Felix got to 26 in juniors, winning a couple of J2 and J3 titles, but not really standing out from the top crowd, as such. And slightly fortunate in terms of juniors as he's born early Jan (so only a month difference really from Jack Draper, and Oscar Weightman and Harry Wendelken etc). And some studies show this comes over into adult (hence, the French system at one time over done June - June years).

I know nothing about his family or anything, but he's always played a very physical game of tennis - attractive to watch, and obviously well suited to transitioning into adults. Not the tallest (similar in physique to Arthur really). But a very good ball player.

2021 was a great summer - produced some excellent grass court tennis, both in singles and doubles.

Is now 799 in adults - just cracked the top 800. And rising. Not like a rocket. But must be aiming for top 500 reasonably soon.

And he's just reached what I presume is his first Futures final in Ulcinj.

Yep, think so.

He's made the semis before, but never a final, I don't think.

Go, Felix !

ADD: he ended up losing the final quite easily, but great week all the same....

Yes, it's his first - before this week, he was 3-0 in M15 QFs (0-1 in M25 QFs) but 0-3 in M15 SFs - what a morning, 4 semi-final wins out of 4 )

Steven's link to his tables is working today. Although the tables haven't been updated for over two years, they are stil interesting reading.
(GB men top 10 = 1968 and GB women = 1963)

Quite exciting to see 16 yo Emma Raducanu at GB #21 and WR 627. She might be worth watching.
