L32: Ryan Peniston WR 331 d. Peter Polansky (CAN) WR 237 6-3, 6-2

I only watched the 2nd set but Polansky seemed as unbothered by the match as I have ever seen, just seemed to be going through the motions.

score reflects that as well - nonetheless a welcome win for Ryan. Rises to 317 it seems (live rankings says from 323?) and another win will take it to 307 or thereabouts - good couple of weeks for Ryan could see him break top 300

Yes, as per my post, which preceded Shhh's & shows the updated rankings.  wink

Highly dodgy in my view, that second set. He'll attract unwanted attention playing like that.

So, Ryan was supposed to play the winner of Tennys Sandgren and Chris Eubanks.

But Tennys got defaulted after only two games (couldn't happen to a nicer man.....)

It was off camera but seemingly (reports differ) the ball boy bounced a ball at him badly so it hit him (gently) in the groin. Tennys lashed a ball out in anger and hit a linesman (not too badly but....)

Anyway, he's gone, to the sorrow of nobody bar his mum, and Ryan's got Eubanks now.

That's a bit of a shocker, for the top seeds to go out, like that, with that score.....

indeed, ouch. Lloyd seems to have struggled to maintain his form from the first few months of the year, at that time it felt like it was a matter of when, not if, he would get to the same rank level around 50-60 as the other guys and establish himself in the 250's. He seemed to struggle with the ranking conditions entry levels needed to make that leap initially (ie not being able to get into draws) and has since lost a fair bit of momentum. Not sure if swapping partners a lot helps, I realise he needed to do that to get into the fields. But he certainly seems to have gone backwards.

There are only really 6 or 7 weeks of tennis left at main tour level through to mid November, so it would be good to see him pick up those results over the next period of tennis
