I too brought up TF and understand the vibe you talk of. It is odd isn't it, that any message board covering any subject will eventually take on a personality of its own. I guess just one or two posters dictate the mood and then those in the minority think "I don't like it here much" and leave whilst others who it does appeal to, stay. Thus growing the "vibe"
Whatever it is, I think we all (as regulars) enjoy it here which is why when it takes a little knock from outside, I hate to see a regular quit over it which has happened once or twice in the past.
I go on there just to check Spiceboys updates and occasionally dip into general messages to read about particular matches. There are some disturbing posters on the Emma Rad thread that could really do with a welfare check from the authorities, and don't get me started on the stupid posters with their 'signature girls' The moderation needs to be much more robust on there.
Just looked at he moderators and it appears that the vast majority of them if not all are Male, why am I not surprised

Same with me. There are some good posters on there but I don't enjoy the negative and quite aggresive vibes that appear around certain players. Sadly this is what you tend to get with larger message boards however good or not the moderators.
I wonder how much of the abuse etc is tied up with gambling. I certainly get that feelng with some of the Twitter abuse.
Anyway back on topic. Very pleased to see Emma doing this well. I did feel it was necessary for her to take part this week and I hope she will now see the tournament out either by winning or at least completing a match. She has a very promising game and it would be good for her psyche to see a tournament through to the end.
I agree with others that putting some points on the board now and in the next few weeks will hopefully set her up for next season and the off season will be a good chance to enhance her overall fitness which probably does need addressing.
I think Liu will probably be too much for Emma at this stage but a really positive week, exactly the level she can be building confidence in!
I always read TF and always regret it. Its a place for people who like to talk about female tennis players rather than
womens tennis in the main, although some more interesting chat away from the main board.

If I stray past the Q and MD lists which is what I tend to go on there for and then rise to the bait I end up feeling a little bit grubby and annoyed with myself that I am enabling the brownmac weirdos on there.
I still don't see why it was "necessary" for Emma to compete here in between 5 matches ( including her retiral ) in the heat of Landisville and before US Open qualifying, much as I like how well it is going.
And as I said, now having got to this stage I hope she sees it out and hopefully even wins the tournament, and then just gives it her best shot again next week. But she has not faced such 3 such back to back weeks at this level.
I take it all the US Open MD WCs have been allocated. I know we have mocked such a suggestion regarding Emma in the past but the Americans seem to like the cut of her jib.
