Yes, she likes to play in hot weather apparently, just as well ! Looking forward to this evening , heat delays permitting. Everything s a bonus now for the week.
Showing new career high of 175 ( think ). Well done Emma

One place above Beatriz (and level on points), who has also reached the QF here.
Yep, didn't see her winning 12 of the last 13 games after dropping that first set, especially the way it unfolded. Great tournament now, regardless of what happens next. 4 solid wins, 31 points, and more good news...
She has a WC into the Chicago W125k event next week. The more she wins this week, the less important it is to play next week, but another opportunity to test herself against fringe 100 players.

Emma certainly played better in the 2nd and 3rd sets than in the first but I suspect her opponent was also starting to wilt a bit by then having played six sets in the day in that heat.

Her opponent had played the same amount as Emma. Coco had retired overnight from her previous match.
If Emma wins her QF I see that her contemporary (2) Clara Tauson is a potential SF opponent although Clara is so far only through to R2 and may have to play 2 singles matches tomorrow. Also Clara+ is still in the doubles with a QF match against Sam+.
Clara Tauson retired in her 2nd round match after dropping the first set. Wonder what this means for Sam's doubles QF match.
The draw is wide open now with the two top seeds out. Top seed, Madison Brengle lost her 2nd round match earlier

Agreed great result and tournament for her. Pleased to see her competing at this level which feels the right sort of progression for her. Personally do think she needs to play next week. This is good practice for being on the tour full time with back to back tournaments.
Personally I don't see at all that Emma "needs" to play again next week at this early stage in her full time career and with US Open qualifying the week after.
She has come through qualifying here and the QF will be her 5th match in all, even if so far she has generally made fairly short work of them ( though in some tough conditions ), with hopefully more to come and also hopefully 3 matches in US Open qualifying.
If she wants to, and I assume by the WC her and her team have initially felt she'd be up for it, fair enough. But there really is no need to particularly push things. Indeed at times probably more need not to. And plenty experienced players choose to step away after a big week.
I agree that Emma doesn't need to play any more. I would actually say that it would be detrimental with potentially USO qualies and MD coming up. I'd be concerned that if she has a good run this week, that playing next week too would just be a step too far, and she could be burnt out for the USO.
According to the youtube live feed, there is now a rain delay. In the comments someone has reported lightning and a severe storm in the area. So there might not be any play at all.
