Jo is now live ranked 36 though her Cincy ( @ New York ) 2020 SF points ( though a week later last year ) may drop after Cincy 2021, on 23/08 ( the relevant date for US Open seedings ). I lose track of the WTA ranking intentions.
Really though just great for her to find such form after the time she has had for a while and particularly in recent weeks.

Live tennis shows her 5 week ranking as dropping circa 780 points down to around 1050 after the next few weeks, putting her effectively 70th or so, including this weeks results so far. She presumably has other points ie us open and cinci coming off?
Jo still has points from Rabat played in May 2019 and Monterray March 2020 included in her current points. She'll be hard pressed to be seeded at this year's US Open as Cincinnati 2020 will surely drop off.
Well, that was a pleasantly surprising result to wake up to. Lets hope she can carry on in this fashion in her next match against Gauff in the last 16.
What a super win! I was really impressed with how she was saving break points in the second, which I thought was encouraging signs but never expected this!
I imagine Jo is protecting her knee for US open. Such a shame though that she has this ongoing problem. She played so well and I fancied at her best she could have taken the title here.
It says withdraw wuth left knee injury. I thought the problem before was the right knee.
Yes, certainly the things I've read have been about her tendons and the right knee. So maybe it's a different thing altogether this time (which might be good news, as in not chronic and just a twinge)
Very sad news for Jo in what is turning out to be a wretched summer for her when it comes to bad luck. Even more frustrating as, since Nottingham, she has looked in much better form.
Hard to see her playing next week in Cincinnati where she is defending a lot of points. I think she will try to play US Open and then. Possibly try to play Indian Wells and then finish for the year. Complete guesswork of course! She has no points to defend as she didn't play the Asian swing last time it took place. No pro athlete can sustain their career with debilitating injuries only allowing for spasmodic competing.
Shame as this had been a decent tournament for the British women.
