Very unfortunate that there are no North American women's ITFs this week between the Landisville 100K and US Open qualifying.

Edit: ah, I see that there is a Chicago WTA 125 for players not at Cincinnati. Hopefully we'll have a few players there.

However, as per tennisforum, for some reason the WTA 125 has a very small qualifying draw. Fran, Harriet and Sam are currently quite far down the qualifying alts list.

What on earth are the WTA doing. How can the arrangements for pre US open tournaments be in anyway acceptable. There is literally nothing for players ranked below 100.

Indeed

Apparently one qualifying round of 8 players for 4 places in Chicago which is ridiculous in the circumstances. Even with just 4 qualifying places, 2 rounds would have meant 16 players and 3 rounds 32 players. Or even 3 rounds and more qualifiers?!

Or / plus a high value ITF because adding more qualifying competitors to Chicago would still seemingly leave plenty players in the higher 100s and 200s with nothing.

But not getting that far into the 100s is nuts.

Would be nice if some players called this out.

The WTA are an absolute joke, who the hell is in charge, how incompetent do you have to be at your job to leave such a glaring hole in the schedule

The ATP isn't far behind with the lack of US challenger swing. Very poor and further fuels the inequality between the top players with the up and coming or ones that are good but not top 100 players/those coming back from injury.

Emma has a wildcard for Chicago

(probably been mentioned somewhere but here seems a good place to have it too)

Harriet has actually travelled to Chicago, so must be close to getting in. tennisteen shows Harmony Tan WR139 as next entry.
