Martin plays Marc Lopez of Spain in the QF, whose ranked 316, so that's definitely winnable. In fact there's only one seed left in (Kunitsyn), whose in the other half, so the draw's opened up very nicely. Maybe I'm tempted fate...
That's a stunning victory, Martin now must be the big favourite for the quarter-final against Lopez. [who knocked out the 5th seed in rd1].
Lopez is ranked 316 at the moment but has a career high of 106 which was reached in May 2004. He's played 5 events in 2006, reaching the semis of a futures in Italy but losing in 4 successive qualies events [2 for challengers and 2 for ATPs]. They've never played each other before.
That's a disappointing end to the week for Martin. As Steven said on the rusedski site, Lopez must have turned it on at the end of each set - he blitzed through the 1st set tiebreak, 7-0. Martin will be rueing his missed opportunity as Lopez has gone on to reach the final.
