 Ali does seem to be becoming a specialist doubles player with some good partners latel, but a tough draw  confuse

Do we know why Ali is only playing doubles? Is it a longevity/physical thing to manage, the result of some tough but honest discussions about her level and upside on singles, maybe a mental thing where she just didn't enjoy or struggled with singles?

I don't think it's a bad move to be honest. If she has the talent and the commitment she could get up really quite quickly to a good level.

Coric live rankings shows Ali up 136 places to WR594 with today's win. They've only credited her with 15 points though. Just shows what a good week could achieve though.

 Yes, from currently WR 730 on 58 points I make it that she will so far have nearly doubled her ranking points to 114, equivalent to about WR 550.

She has 40 (net 39) points to add from last week's W25 RU spot and so far 18 (net 17) points from the QF here.

If she can get a QF win, the further 17 points earned should take her up to about WR 500.

QF: (4) Alicia Barnett & Olivia Nicholls CR 544 (287+257) lost to Sujeong Jang (KOR) / Ya-Hsuan Lee (TPE) CR772 (500+272) 2-6 6-3 7-10

Sujeong won the W25 in Kviv last week (with a different partner) beating Ali in the final

In their QF Ali+ had 3 SPs at *6-5 40-15 but were taken to a TB which they have just lost.

Overall Ali+ won 76 points vs 67 and took 5/14 BPs vs 3/4 but still lost out in that tight first set and in the MTB.
