Above copied from Peter too in general thread. Thought as there is a mens one it would make sense to have a womens one, albeit for Heather

According to the somewhat erratic scoreboard on the WTA site, Heather was a break down at 3-4* in the 2nd set then had 0-40 but was unable to take any of those 3 bps.

She lost the 2nd set 3-6

Well, that is that. Disappointing result, and disappointing it was entirely expected. Looks like she had a break point at 4-4* in the first but it was otherwise very tight, and then missed her chance to get back into it failing to break from 0-40 at 3-4* in the second. Difficult conditions by all accounts, but still a match you need her to be winning.

Another loss to a player outside the top 100. It's very unlikely she will be able to play mixed as there are no wildcard slots (could have been lucky and got one with Andy maybe) but perhaps her and Joe will sign in as alternates and could sneak in if there are late withdrawals after the draw comes out Monday.

You can work out potential teams from the squads and best combined rankings. Joe and Heather's best combined ranking is nowhere near the top 16 sadly, would need a lot of countries not to enter or not nominate their stronger players.

6 double faults and 2 from 12 second serve points won. Hard to win if you lose your serve.

I watched some of it, but couldn't stomach it all. She was awful. Wouldn't get anywhere near a round 1 qualifying win in a slam with that tennis.

I've said it before somewhere on here but unless she makes a dramatic change in her coaching team with a renewed desire to improve her game, this is it for our Hev.

I think whoever I played, I would have been really disappointed with the outcome today. It definitely wasnt my best tennis but I gave it my best with what I had, it just wasnt enough," said Watson.

There were too many unforced errors that came and went in waves. I am just very disappointed with the outcome.

I did everything I could to prepare right and I literally could not have done any more. I felt really good going out there today.

Pretty honest assessment form Heather. No disguising a disappointing result against a player who hasn't been on great form and who heather should be more than capable of beating.

At least Heather in good company, Ash Barty lost her opener and Ons Jabeur lost to CSN.
