It was very windy on court in Lisbon, both players having problems on serve. Katie dealt with the conditions much better than her opponent, and was leading comfortably. Her opponent had her ankle strapped early in the 2nd set, but it didn't appear she was hampered by the injury, even at the end. It was surprising the way she suddenly chose to retire, and coincided with Katie, holding serve, and then breaking in a strong return game to go 4-2 up in the second set. In the next game at 30-0 down, her opponent just seemed to give up.
Hopefully, the wind will have dropped before the next match against Perez, which should be a good contest.

I'm wondering if it is a bit windy in Lisbon. Katie served 4 double faults in game 4, but managed to hold, and another two from the same end in game 8.

And another 2 DFs again from that end as she was broken to 15. 4 breaks to start set 2.
