Mimi (Mingge) Xu

Mimi Xu is (with Hep) the other extremely promising prospect we have amongst our young female players.

She also is born 2007. Comes from Swansea. And has been a top LTA prospect for several years.

I was very impressed when I saw her in the U18 nationals.

The thing that stands out is her physique - she is VERY tall and well-built for a 13/14 year-old. This obviously might be less noticeable in 4 years time. Or she may carry on growing.

But she hits a wonderfully strong, hard ball. Serves well. Moves reasonably well. And seems to be quite level-headed.

She's now at the elite academy in Loughborough

She deserves her own page smile

Congrats to Mimi, for winning the J4 title at Loughborough, at age 13

Comparisons are bound to be made with Emma Rad, who won the Liverpool J5 when she was 13 - but that's just a J5 and this is a J4 - move over, Emma

Seriously, brilliant week and I expect she thoroughly deserved it - as above, VERY impressed when I saw her live this summer. Will be very interesting to watch.....
