RE: 2021 GB Player of the Month Thread Jul to Dec

Hey TTMan. We generally have a different view on Jo, and that is fine. I have said before I like her and support her, but we will always differ on this I think.

As for no polls existing when Jo was at her peak - possibly, yes. I dont think I was aware of this board in that period so couldnt have done a poll at that time, if I was around the board in some way, I certainly hadnt had the idea! The idea came to me when looking at an old embryonic thread for it (which never took off) and which I then adapted the idea from and ran with it.

Wasn't a criticism just a simple observation. I do appreciate the effort involved on your part in running the polls.

its good, didnt take it as such - I wish there had been also! And I realise everyone recognises the effort etc - I genuinely dont see it as such and it doesnt take much effort in reality - a bit like TA with his predictions contest, or CD with her rankings updates, Indy with his winners list, Strongbow with the updates each week for Strongest Nation, I think we all do those as a bit of a labour of love, and probably in reality it just becomes part of our enjoyment of tennis in general

I'll nominate Mimi - winner of a J4 at age 13 (one step better than Emma). And the dubs too. AND she's a blinkin good player with a great future (possibly, lots of water to pass under the bridge yet, and all that)

Do we know her as Mimi or is that your name? As opposed to Mingge or Min or Minny?!

I have to say we have a number of players now who are genuine player of the month winners, not just nominations. This could be interesting and maybe Emma R wont have it all her own way in the vote off final. Time dims memories and I often think those who perform at the end of the month have a slightly inbuilt advantage.

I am not around tomorrow so Jon, if Liam wins the final in Biel tomorrow please could you nominate him on my behalf. It would be his first challenger title win and he puts himself out there week after week, so in my view he would definitely deserve a nomination.

Thanks
