Great.
Just to flesh it out, Lui is born 2003 and did not take part in the 2021 National Championships because he had qualified for Roland Garros Juniors main draw (I do wonder if he regrets that decision? Not easy......Made perfect sense for Jack PJ because he was getting a Wimbly quali WC anyway, and I guess he knew that, but Lui???)
Comes from Worthing.
Has an older brother, Kai, who also plays/played tennis at national level.
I've never seen him play live, just the livestream bits from RG and this month when he had wildcards into Notts qualis and Eastbourne qualis.
Think Lui has signed up for Texas CU college tennis this autumn

I first saw Lui when he was chasing around picking up balls while his older brother was practising! He was tiny then.

My son was in the same squad as him at West Worthing (Lui was a year younger than all the others). His parents are very down to earth and not pushy at all but I think it really helped him having a talented older brother and they practised together for hours.

My son was once 6-1 up in a deciding tiebreak to him and lost 8-6. He was distraught at the time but does not seem so bad now!!

As he has his own thread, just to update:

Lui was runner-up in the British Tour Masters 2021, losing 4-6 4-6 to Toby Samuel.

That's a cheque of £1500 and a very good tournament

Lui "El Gato" has been playing collegiate tennis at TCU for the past 4 years. In his final year at TCU he is arguably one of the most improved players in men's college tennis. In November he became the NCAA men's doubles champion with his Spanish partner Pedro Vives and finished the season ranked as the No 1 doubles team with Pedro.

In team play, he played No 3 singles this season - but often playing up at No 2 due to an injury to his doubles partner who played No 2 singles - and No 1 doubles. He went through the NCAA championships unbeaten in singles and doubles, winning his final match in the final of the NCAA team championships as TCU unsuccessfully attempted to defend the NCAA team title. In the semi-final he played one of the best matches of his collegiate career, defeated PY Bailly 3&0, an opponent to he had lost heavily twice earlier in the season and who had gone through the season almost unbeaten. He was voted to the NCAA all-tournament team at No 3 singles and No 1 doubles. In his final season he was 17-4 in singles and 20-4 in doubles.
