Just to flesh it out, Lui is born 2003 and did not take part in the 2021 National Championships because he had qualified for Roland Garros Juniors main draw (I do wonder if he regrets that decision? Not easy......Made perfect sense for Jack PJ because he was getting a Wimbly quali WC anyway, and I guess he knew that, but Lui???)
Comes from Worthing.
Has an older brother, Kai, who also plays/played tennis at national level.
I've never seen him play live, just the livestream bits from RG and this month when he had wildcards into Notts qualis and Eastbourne qualis.
Think Lui has signed up for Texas CU college tennis this autumn
I first saw Lui when he was chasing around picking up balls while his older brother was practising! He was tiny then.
My son was in the same squad as him at West Worthing (Lui was a year younger than all the others). His parents are very down to earth and not pushy at all but I think it really helped him having a talented older brother and they practised together for hours.
My son was once 6-1 up in a deciding tiebreak to him and lost 8-6. He was distraught at the time but does not seem so bad now!!
