Good to see Heather build on last weeks win. Hopefully this is the start of a bit of an upswing in fortunes for her

Humph. We've not been at a finals for 23 years so there's not been much repeating of late. Surely you've been aware of our missing entertainment factor.

And we did have to avoid losing some football matches and win some penalty shootouts for our latest backdoor / play-offs entry, so earned.

The temptation to rub it in was massively tempered by the fact that as a huge Arsenal fan, my worst moment of following football, was when Nayim (ex Spurs player) lobbed Seaman from the half way line in the Cup Winners Cup final for Porto against Arsenal.; an almost identical goal. It took me back to that and I actually felt for you guys, as I remember feeling physically sick after watching Nayim score in virtually the last kick of the game.

It was a freak occurrence, so hopefully you can beat Croatia and still qualify. Given who the group winners would play, I'd take the Czechs as winners, England as second and Scotland a good third.

I know this is the wrong place to debate this, but my heart does genuinely go out to all you proud Scots, and I do have some Scottish relatives too.

No, have to say I thought Heather and Harriet would win that comfortably.

Well Tereza rarely plays doubles (around three times a year recently), but with a singles ranking of 90 she oviously is a decent player.
Perhaps H+H gelled too well - and got stuck ?

H&H have played together with some joy over the years. But MTB are a bit of a lottery really, doesn't take much for it to just run away.

Incredible match on centre between Alja and Mertens. That final tiebreaker was quite something, Elise is usually so solid and just handed the match with two doubles from *4-5.

Definitely a missed chance for Harriet in R1:

Bouzkova d. Garcia, 63 60 in Birmingham.

Great start for Heather with a break.

(And then an MTO for her opponent, which is not 'great', but just noting)
