Katie B v Heather looks like a fascinating match up - after this we should have a better idea about where Katie B's game is at and it will also be a real test for Heather.
As soon as I saw Katie B's odds of 28-1, it felt wrong, and like others, I wish I had had a punt. I am not saying she will win (though she was and still is my tip - curse of death of course), but she is looking like she is really returning to pre-injury form now. I am very excited for her.
I have very warm feelings towards Heather too; she has done great things for British tennis over the years and I think she is probably a little under-appreciated really. She is of course in that exclusive club of Grand Slam mixed doubles winner, and whatever anyone thinks about mixed doubles, Grand Slam winner, British and still alive is a pretty short list.
Anyway hope both women play well and do themselves justice. I'm rooting for Katie B, because she is my favourite player, but also because I feel she still has a great chance of making it back into the top 100 and becoming a major league player. This could be the tournament that really re-starts her career - fingers crossed to her, but good luck to both players - hopefully everyone on here appreciates what they have done for British tennis.
Wins 6-3 in the third. Jo has lost a lot of matches like this one in the last 2 years, down those break points early in the third I worried, but credit to her she fought and came through.
Definitely a good match for Jo to come through, against a player who was getting a lot balls back into play. Jo was broken twice in set 2 despite hitting 15 aces during the match. But admit, I was wearing out the carpet when Jo had to save 3 BP's at the start of set 3 but holding that game seemed to be the turning point. Jo then immediately broke her opponent, held her nerve well and went on to serve it out comfortably at the first attempt to 15.
Not looking good for Em and Beth. Lost the first set 6-1 in quick time, and now the physio has been called - Beth looking very unhappy, and possibly unwell. (Hard to tell from a fuzzy stream).
