So, so happy for Em and Beth. Jodie and Katie were so relaxed (probably because in the grand scheme it didn't mean that much and they were just having fun) and had the extra pop on serve and the ground, but Beth and Em were trying to play some proper grass doubles and when they got it right it was lovely to hear the crowd cheering. I really thought they were done when they went from 3-1* to *3-4 0-30 in the second but they stayed calm, won the deuce point, and then did very well to win the last 3 games of the set.
Jodie double faulted the first point of the MTB and I thought was going to destroy her racket. Em and Beth played a clean tiebreak, got the first serves in, picked the right poach ball at the net, and Em launched a screamer of a whipped forehand return down the line off Katie's big first serve.
Just to prove the fan jinx is real, at *9-1 I started recording the match. Lose the point. Start recording again, lose the point. Stop recording - win it.
But no doubt the Wimbledon wildcards will only include one of these pairs and not the one who won....
Deary me Heather.... Looks like she'll salvage it now at *5-2 but even so. But nice to see Tara playing well and having fun.

A reminder in this post match interview just how lovely and a class act Heather is. I suspect Katie will win it on current form but I wouldn't be sad to see Heather string a run together.

Heather is one of those people where I feel you just can't help but smile back at.

She withdrew from the doubles, so a genuine injury/illness. So I object to the c-word.
Also....if she was that injured but got the win, that says far more about Harriet than her opponent, no? Davis is almost always bandaged up, I remember she played Jo at RG and was wound up like a mummy on her leg.

She was checking her neck during all set 1 changeovers - definitely looked like a genuine problem. Treatment was with her flat out but didnt see exactly what it was.
I'm a bit disappointed by Harriet's result yesterday. Davis is a tricky customer but if Harriet want to be an established top 100 player Davis is exactly the type of player she needs to be beating on a more regular basis.
Heather won as she should do against Tara but by the sound of things wasn't totally convincing.
Katie B, best result of the day for me. A good win against a decent player. I do think Katie has the best chance of a decent top level career of all the younger GB players, as long as she can stay fit and healthy, so I'm hoping she will now go on to beat Heather, nothing against Heather, and get some points on the board to help her ranking get back to where it ought to be.
At least we will be guaranteed one GB winner in the singles.
Katie now up to live ranking 235 which should be good enough for US Open qualifying as it stands, another few wins and she won't be sweating it for a place. I think she will make the final here, wish I'd put a quid on at 28-1

Live-tennis.eu isn't correct. It is only dropping 2 weeks of ITF points from 2019 instead of the 3 weeks that are dropping next week and for Katie it doesn't seem to be replacing her penalty counter from 2019 RG with a 16th counter. Nottingham should be replacing that 0 pt penalty counter not a 1pt counter. So Katie has an additional point than live-tennis.eu are giving her which puts her above Pauline Parmentier. Richel Hogenkamp has 14 points dropping from a W60 in week 24 2019 which are not accounted for in live-tennis.eu, which puts Katie above her.
OER has its errors too in wrongly dropping S' Hertogenbosch and giving the wrong number of points for qualifying in Nottingham, but I'd rather go with their 232 for Katie as being more accurate.

No doubt Katie B is playing really well. Shes solid and confident. she could go all the way to final and I believe a few more tournaments her ranking will improve dramatically

On paper Katie ought to beat Heather given the clear difference in form between the two this year but I worry about her relatively poor record against fellow Brits.
