What has gone wrong with Freya? Coaching/illness/injury? is there a reason or is it just what it is?

She had a very nasty and upsetting time when her boyfriend was diagnosed with cancer two or three years ago. And being with him during his treatment must have been dreadfully difficult.

Her own back injuries before that were not great either (although not on the same scale, of course).

However, I also believe (IMHO) that her coaching is wrong.

I'd forgotten about the boyfriend situtation, but that might explain part of it, as she seems to have lost focus and her game seems to have been on the slide for a while now. I wasn't very impressed last summer in the UKPro series, and this year she seems to be getting worse.

Looking at today's stats, it seems to confirm my impressions. Her serve appears to have lost its potency, accuracy and consistency. She made 64% first serves overall today but only won 53% of those. In the third set it was only 52% and 36%. Perhaps not so bad overall, but she was facing a lower-ranked opponent thet she would have beaten with ease a couple of years ago. So perhapsa change of coach would help.

That's nice

She seems to have got more out of the recent ProLeague events that some others.

Very pleased for her.

Thanks for that info. Sounds like a tough time overall. Hard to pick up again after all that,

Some good news among the overall carnage. Good win for her.

Emilie withdrew after all, and is replaced by a lucky loser. So just Alice left here now.

Yes, got back on serve to *4-5, and was then broken to love. Downhill from 1-1 in the second though
