Week 23 - Challenger 125 (€132,280) - Viking Open, Nottingham (grass)

Unbelievable backhand half volley in that final game and Liam gets over the line in 3 sets.

Really enjoyed that.

Bit tense in that third set. But served it out really well, with service winners and a lovely serve and volley on MP

Well done, Liam.

2-1 to GB against the Aussies now after yesterdays defeat for Arthur. Hopefully Ryan can get the win over Ebden to take what will be a 3-1 lead! Mini Davis cup battle this!

Annoyed with myself for not buying a ticket for later in the week. They have all sold out now. I never thought about limited numbers, which was pretty dim of me

Ryan does so well against players of similar ranking and below but cannot seem to gets the Wins from the next group up?

Yes, I have seen this, he is a flat track bully of futures, or ITF tour, not sure of current name.  He will have career peaking around 220 likely.

Not sure how to judge this, the crazy ones on here, will say that he took a former Wimbledon finalist to a tie break, but truth is that Anderson is washed up from what I am hearing over on MTF.

I'd say that was a tad harsh - I've been there today and watched and thought Jay acquitted himself pretty well. He was a little unlucky to lose his first service game, there were a couple of dubious line calls that went against him and a couple of other times when he only missed the line by centimetres.

Other than that, very little to choose between them until it all fell apart in the TB, Jay took a nasty looking fall early on and although he recovered it all ran away from him there but he certainly hung in well. I really hope he can get some wins together and get back up to where he was and beyond. Anderson was very complimentary about his work ethic in the post match interview and said he thought he had a bright future.

Incidentally, was quite sad to see Jay's dad limping around on a stick an hour before the match, not sure what's happened there.

A pair of quite tough matches for the two Brits; be great to see them go head to head in the last 8 though

2 time slam finalist in fact so worthy of respect. Whether he is past his best due to injuries , probably, but still hes experienced, ranked top 100 and realistically more than a decent match up for Jay.
