Weeks 22 & 23 - French Open (Roland-Garros) - Paris, France (clay) - main draw

Would chose a different word than "wonderfully" unpredictable myself. Maybe "predictably" unpredictable, with the only predictable player For the last 10+ years as Serena. Chance is up for grabs and most of the remaining players will fall apart, I'm imagining a Thiem/Zverev type repeat final between two younger players Coco/Badosa?

Sloane at 16/1 has to be worth a punt

Krejcikova now in singles qf, is ladies dubs seed 2 and top seed in mxd. Would be quite a treble! Anyone know when it was last achieved in a Grand Slam?

I thought one of the Williams had but they only have Singles/Doubles no mixed doubles to add

And then Gauff comes through another one sided match. A couple of extra games for Jabeur than Stephens (6-3 6-1), but around 15 minutes less on court (53 mins vs 1 hr 7 mins).

Gauff was very much in cruise control - seeing the betting odds above makes me think that the bookies are not rating Gauff highly enough. I am not saying she should be favourite, but I expect her to make the semis from here, at least.

She looks a very different player to a few months ago - way more controlled and confident; I can see a future World Number One - maybe not just yet, but at some point in the next 2 or 3 years.

Would be amazing for her if she did win, just not that good for woman's tennis

She's now into around 13/2 / 7/1, but the main reason she's (still) not as low, as say Badosa, is because Iga is in her half. If Iga lost to Kostyuk later this evening, then Gauff's odds would subsequently come right in (and also Krejcikova will likely be a tougher QF match, on paper, than Zidansek).

Nice win for Matilda in the first round of the Girls Singles - she put out the number 2 seed Eala, a Filipino, 6-4 6-7 6-1.

As anyone will know from my previous posts, I always take form in the Girls Singles with a pinch of salt, as I think it is a huge step up to the seniors, but on the other hand beating the number 2 seed here is a great win and will have caused a few more in tennis to take note of her.

If she continues to win here, she could also be in contention for a Wimbledon Wildcard.

It's no problem at all either way but, just so you know, Andy, there is also a dedicated thread to the Roland Garros Juniors event in the Juniors section.

And, yes, agree - a really good win - against a girl ranked WTA 624.

No faux pas at all !

It's just you'll find more Matilda fans, and 'interesting' discussion, on the junior thread smile
