Best part of Evans's match on ITV 4 was the text rendering of his opponent's name as 'Cake Man of Each'

Watching on itv4, starting at 3rd set, forgot best of 5 and wondered why they were not talking about match point! So good he still has a chance to win, even if he has to play 5 sets. Have to say lovely tennis going on from both.

Nice that the Finnish-Swiss qualifier, Laaksonen, also got a win.

Aged 29, he's made R2 in a Grand Slam a couple of times before. But this is a big win for him, and always nice for a qualifier.

Now down a break in set 4. The fourth game of this set was massive. He has points for a double break but you just knew if he didn't get it he would then proceed to lose his own serve, and so he did

No getting round it, that's a disappointing result.

Hardly the end of the world, it is clay, and all that, but all the same.....

For the record:

L128:  Miomir Kecmanovic (SRB) WR 48 defeated (25) Daniel Evans WR 27 by 1-6 6-3 6-4 6-4  cry

I was convinced that, if I went out to do my shopping after he went a break up in the fourth set, he'd win it to get himself back in it & I'd come back to find him playing the decider!  hmm

Well, thrilled that Andujar beat Thiem !

That'll show him for being 'mean' about our Dan

(And his pretty daft comments about prize money, and his Djoko covid party and all that... )

PS As well as, on the more positive notes, Andujar is 35 and has had three elbow surgeries.

Cam is second up on Court 6 tomorrow (followed by JoKo).

It's a women's match first (starting at 10a.m. uk time) so Cam should be on court at about 11.30 based on average timings.

At start of play the top half of draw had 59 grand slam titles between them. The lower half had 1. At end of day one it is 59 to zero. Thiem losing of course.

Being seeded in the last few Slams Evo has missed golden opportunities to pick up valuable ranking points. Frustrating.

Yes, absolutely. Frustrating for him. And for us. Especially as he said it was the one thing he was focused on (performing better in slams)

I've been out of the UK for a few years so am not used to trying to follow the French on ITV (so far it seems that their coverage is pretty sucky in various ways) - is there no way I can see anything other than the one court they show live as they watch it? No way of seeing eg Sinner Herbert right now if I'd rather than than Swiatek's match at the moment? No highlights program or catch up? My free amazon prime trial the last week or two has given me expectations that are far to high it seems! Any advise on how to follow the action better is welcome!

It's on ITV4 and some may be on ITV main channel otherwise it's Eurosport in the UK
