Wimbledon WCs - Men

Has anyone mentioned that the Wimbly wildcard list has now been updated?
With the MD list giving the sixth spot as 'to be announced' and the 7th and 8th spots as 'next direct acceptance' ....

MTF has 2 x WC spots out Bagnis and J Sousa in. I'm not on MTF but assume people posting have a PIN as it's same format as spiceboy on TF.  So 1 WC being held back, possiby for either Anton or outside chance James Ward. I'd like both in MD. James hasn't shown much form but he does draw a crowd at Wimbledon and despite what some would prefer, utimately tennis is entertainment.

Yes, and James did win a round at the Queens qualis. It's hardly a claim to fame but it's not nothing.

The site has updated the women's too so it's obviously intended. Like you, I'm glad they're keeping one place back but would rather two.

Doesn't annoy me as much as the unused women's quali places though.

I think it's being held for James Ward, if he does enough at Eastbourne he'll get it and Anton will stay in qualifying, if he doesn't then maybe Anton will be upgraded. Currently I'd give Anton 50/50 making it through Wimbledon qualifying.

Sorry, but it won't be being held for either Anton or James. It'll be for the Nottingham winner.

Yep shame though. James Ward is usually good value at Wimbledon. I do think it very unfair that Emma Radacanu got upgraded presumably based on her results this week and Anton didn't despite their respective opponents being similarly ranked.  Anton for the titlebiggrin

Not really very unfair for me. In the bigger scheme of things Emma came into the week quite well ahead of Anton, albeit Emma mussibg recent competition.

Her performances this week have given her a WC by strongly reaffirming that potential. Anton's also strong performances this week have brought him into the MD WC conversation and be good if he got one.

And indeed if James then got a QWC. We certainly shouldn't need a fairly distant memory test to think when James was worthy of a MD one. Well short.

Article in today's Times by Stuart Fraser about the main draw wildcards - nothing that regular posters won't already know though !

Feels like all are winnable at one level or another, we wont of course win many but should pick up one or two plus Anton v Will winner

That's got to be a pretty good result for our wildcards, no?

Barely a seeded player.

Guaranteed winner in one all Brit match

Dellien is Bolivian and a clay courter. And Menezes too, no?

Petrovic not been doing too great.

Sela has got to be past his best, surely.

Gunneswaran has never done anything on grass
