Sam *3-5, playing ok for someone who's been out for so long. Although her opponent is in a very rough patch which is helping.

Just nice to see her on court again to be honest.

Obviously a draw is a draw, and you've got to get on with it, but it is a bit of a shame, from a wanting a GB win perspective that Sam drew Hogemkamp, and Fran drew Vera. Hogemkamp is in the 220's so a lower ranked player, has lost 8 in a row, including all 7 in 2021, yet Sam was still the big circa 4/1 5.00 pre match underdog.

One is pretty much the worst draw you can have, one will be one of the better ones, yet very likely to still be 0-2.

She's battling away, and had a break advantage, but is now serving to stay in the match, *4-5.

I've only been watching from 1-3 in the second set, so can't comment before that, but I think you could probably tell that one hasn't won since November, and the other not played since October from the games I have seen.

Just from the first game of the Burrage match...this is going to be all on her racket and shes going to get a lot of opportunities on her opponents serve...let me be a bit optimistic here and place a few coins on Jodie

Just saw the score now, what a start! No doubt as soon as I tune in it'll sharp turn south, but not a bad way to start your first ever slam match of any sorts (bar pre Wimbledon quals).

But there are all the opponent's fans on THEIR message boards - we can't BOTH jinx our players smile

So far Jodie has lost the first set 5-7 and trails 0-4 in the second
