Sets gone. She needs to stay calm here, whilst she may feel she should be in the locker room, that was an astonishing period of play from Haas. Regroup, keep fighting.
Haas in a ridiculous purple patch. Harriet hasn't really done anything wrong and suddenly finds herself looking like heading for a third.
*4-5
Do you reckon? Yes, nothing major but Harriet's been back on the 'it's SO bad' and 'oh, just give up, Harriet' moaning, which I can't think helps.
And I know that Haas has been playing well but that's partly because she changed tactics, to be a little more aggressive, more going towards the net, on the front foot, and Harriet didn't respond, and seemed to back off when she was slightly ahead in the point, never following it in, not even to change things up a bit.
No that's fair CD. Your right Harriet didn't really adapt to Haas raising her level in the second.
But that was a very calm and determined third set. Overall a clean and clever match especially for someone with little clay court craft. Two things for her to look at for me were the second serve (still) dropping very short, and her drop shots were terrible.
Haas didn't channel her emotions well in the third, and Harriet was very solid, aggressive at the right times, some great winners, some lovely defence. Really good stuff.
I'm way too invested in Harriet, couldn't bear to look at the score after the 2nd set. I think she'll make it through qualifying now. She has had some decent clay prep and given herself every chance to make MD.
