Can someone just confirm for me - why Buzarnescu - was she next in line based on the entry list ?

She was using an SR of 104, so was originally Alt 5 when the lists came out.

 Ah, OK, thanks.

Commentators on Eurosport dismissing Fran's way of playing on clay as she does not slide.

Well that was brutal. Shame, she could have beaten a lot of girls in this draw.

Fran lost 1 and 2, similar score to their meeting last year.

Battled away, but always a tough ask given her opponent beat 4 top 100 players, who'll all be in the main draw next week, including Kvitova, in Rome the other week, to get back inside the top 100 herself.

Possibly Nottingham next for her in around 2 weeks?

It's quite strange how RG will be Jodie's first ever grand slam main draw or quals showing. There's obviously circumstance behind it - ranked 500+ in 2018 when the WC picks were made, injured in 2019, and not held in 2020, but still surprising that a relatively decent GB prospect, who turns 22 in a few days, first slam appearance won't be Wimbledon.

Is Fran physically able to slide given her missing toes?

Possibly not too long until Harriet is on court. The men's match directly before her match on Court 11 is currently 6-4 4-0* to the unseeded player (haven't checked to see if that would actually be an upset or not), so could be over fairly soon.

Just saw that she is now underway. 2-2*, 1 break each.

Allez, Harriet.

About to serve for the first set.

And congrats to Lois Boisson, born 2003, and with no ITF junior pedigree as such, who has just beaten Eva Guerrero Alvarez in QR1

Yep, 6 games in a row across both sets. Although in a bit of danger in this 14th game.

Back to *4-3 in the second. She's still playing well and her backhand in particular is looking good. Haas has sort of loosened up since going down a double break and making some big shots.

6-4 *4-3. Hopefully can see this one out from here.

Potential Q2 opponent has been confirmed - Talaba. She did beat Harriet in a Mexican (hard) W25 last March, but it was literally just before lockdown, and the event didn't get finished, so probably not too much to take from that, should they meet.

Haas in a ridiculous purple patch. Harriet hasn't really done anything wrong and suddenly finds herself looking like heading for a third.

*4-5
