You'd hope, but not if Freddy Murray has something to say about it, or Nao Nishino in the girls.

Made me smile - I'm not normally that jingoistic but I did note all the 'pesky' youngsters who lost yesterday (banners, cheers, go wild) and all those who won (boo hiss) smile

For the lads, we had 3 Brit wins and 2 Brit losses in the GB v A.N.Other matches.

In the girls, 2 wins and 1 loss.

If it is a closed event, are the non Brits taking part actually resident over here or ? I guess Im trying to square closed and non Brits in the same event? More non Brits the better , just trying to understand the event really!

Some of the non Brit names I've seen pop up in domestic tournaments. My guess is they're residents. Usually a closed ITF event would imply entry is only permitted to players from the continent in which the tournament is located, I believe. In this instance, "closed" must mean only players with an LTA rating, perhaps?

Really good to see our GB youngsters competing again in ITFs and like you say as closed, guaranteed points. However, for the girls at least so many of the top players missing. Potentially due to a clash with exam timetables. I appreciate its Cat 5, but the entry list is more like a Mid level grade 2. Thankfully the one in Wrexham next week has at least a few more of those players currently on the list (not many), subject to withdrawals and looks a bit stronger. Still a good opportunity to compete, get points and see some new names and youngsters appearing. Looking at the entry list on Brit tour in Felixstowe it seems many of the missing players are already gearing towards the grass.

In the boys FQR, the two remaining non-Brits lost, so all four qualifiers are GB and Ireland's Freddy Murphy is the lone 'pesky' in the MD

The same applies to the girls (all four qualifiers are GB girls) - and a special shout out to 13 year-old Ruby Cooling which is a new name to me. There are two non-British girls in the MD though.

Draws out and Phoenix Weir has a first round tie versus Matthew Rankin, the 2nd seed.

That could be the match of the round.

A high level match up there first round with Phoenix and Matt! Isabelle Lacy playing the number 1 seed could be another.

Amy Leather [1] v Isabelle Lacy.
I thought that too as Isabelle has done well recently but Amy should get through if she is near her best.

And Phoenix comes out on top (which is good, as he's in PoM contention smile)

7-6(5) 6-4
