That should do wonders for her self-confidence

Lissey will be on court shortly. Rather later than expected after Zoe Howard (Q) beat the #2 seed, coming from *2-5 to win 7-5 in the third, in just over three hours.

If Lissey wins her next game she will play Zoe Howard instead of the 2nd seed.

Looks like Emily and Alicia are both second on from 7am UK tomorrow.

I'd normally have at least heard of most top 400 players whether through going deep in an event, playing a Brit, or just skimming through the rankings, but I had never heard of Emily's opponent until yesterday.

Upon looking, she has only played 6 (completed) events since 2019, although she was beaten by a decent player in all 3 of her events this year, and is the circa 1/2 1.50 favourite tomorrow, but perhaps not quite as daunting as it first appeared?

Good luck to both Brits.

Your scepticism proved spot on Ace smile

Great score for Emily, pleased for her.

Certainly wasn't expecting that score mind biggrin. I was thinking more along the lines of 5-7 5-7 'good effort Emily', or 5-7 6-3 4-6, but great that she has bounced back so well from last week, and a big seed out of the way.

Bit more of a match for Lissey, but she takes the first set 6-2, having served for it at 5-1
Long gap for a toilet break, and se's been broken to 15 on the restart.

MTO for someone at *4-3 - and then Lissey loses the set 6-4

Emily and ALicia lost their doubles, 2-6 5-7, which is not great from the top seeds.

Three DF in her opening service game has left Emily chasing for the whole set. She broke back twice only to lose her serve in the next game. Couldn't quite manage it a third time, so the set has gone 6-3.

Lord, Emily was 3-1 up (I think) in the final set (having won the second 6-3)

And then it all went to pieces - she lost then next 5 games and the set 3-6

:(

So, the 17 year-old (who I've never heard of, or of whom I've never heard) won 6-3 3-6 6-3
