Week 19 - ITF (W100) Bonita Springs, USA Clay

I think she's still going, unless the stream is behind, but is an early break down in the second, 0-2*

Looks like Katie's retired.... :(

 Sorry - oops!

The court was empty, I saw someone walking off, the scoreboard had highlighted a final score of a one-set win....

Anyway, very glad she's OK

Far better just to lose than to be injured smile

Definitely CD, hopefully straight on to that US W25 next week, along with Jodie and co, for another go, whereas if she had lost 4-6 0-2 RET, then we'd all be wondering how long she will be out for.

We've certainly seen better starts to a given week mind, I think we're something like 1-8 in singles, including a lot of our more relevant players, Katie's win yesterday being that 1 W.

Still has the doubles here, hopefully a good run in that will reignite her form for next week

Katie and Francesca have pulled out of the doubles. Sofia Shapatava and Panna Udvardy have taken their place.

I make it 6 in the singles yet to start their tournament, plus several in the doubles. The week isn't over just yet !

Ah yeah, I knew of a few yet to play including Fran, Emily, and Lissey. Think I saw Beth 1/12 when looking at the odds the other day, so her and Freya, and presumably one more that I have missed. I'm obviously solely focussed on the singles personally, but good luck to those competing in the dubs, especially to those where it is their main focus, but disappointing all the same when it's your 2 top 100 WTA players, 2 of the younger players with potential to get towards the top 100, and one of your better juniors, plus Emma extending her absence further, which could have provided a little bit of cheer.

I'm hoping for a good week for Fran in Spain, and it looks like she has an OK draw to win a round or two, but then so did Jodie, so not not counting my chickens just yet, ha, but best of luck to all the Brit's competing over the rest of the week.
