Looking at Tennis Forum someone has listed 22 players that are possible withdrawals, obviously not all of these will do or they will but after qualifying starts (most are ranked high enough for MD). None have withdrawn yet but looking at the list half is a real possibility so 11 withdrawals plus WCs handed out to players above Jodie and she will be on the bubble, hopefully the right side of it.
I would be surprised if Sam turns up herself. I don't think she has played in 2021?
Not since Roland Garros qualifying last year - at the end of September
There are 4 on the Q list apparently that haven't played at all this year. Sam did play an ITF in October and retired according to a poster on TF. Then there are apparently a few in MD that haven't played ant clay events yet.

Good point! The ITF site misleading has her QR1 loss to Rodionova in Paris as her last match (as it is under the dates of the main draw) but her actual last match was a 2nd Rd retirement in a 25K in Portugal... so presumably shes injured still.
I have a feeling that with Covid still rife in France, and lots of players still wary of getting it, that lots of players will withdraw before qualifying starts, and hopefully Jodie and Katie S will make it into the draw. I just hope for Katie's sake that she doesn't miss the cut off by fine margins; being first alternate in Australia for the last two days before qualifying started was exceptionally harsh - normally at least one player withdraws in the two days before an event, so hopefully there will be no repeat of that for her.
Given form anyway, not sure what a QR1 loss will do for Jodie & Katie in the longer run...yes being pessimistic that they would lose straight off. Also, depends how fit Katie S is, because the evidence at the moment isn't great.

Do you reckon?
The positivity rate in France was over 10% a month or so ago but is now about 5%.
And grand slam qualis are SUCH biggies in terms of money and points that I don't think many will withdraw.
To answer flamingowings and Coup - I am also pretty negative about any of our players qualifying or even winning matches. I do think, though, that lots will withdraw - I assume that there will be hassles of testing, quarantine, restrictions on travel to France from some countries, and then the reluctance of some players who know they are not any good on clay, to put themselves through the hassles of this.
I could be wrong....but then we will soon find out. I am someone who is always happy to make a prediction and don't feel that in some way it makes me an imbecile if I am proved wrong.
My prediction is that Jodie B will get an entrance to the qualies and Katie S will be right at the cut off point. I will now sit back and watch others less brave than me to make predictions laugh when I am proved wrong.

If someone else would like to take over listing upcoming matches please feel free, my mind won't be on tennis for a while.
Hope everything is OK Peter. No worries about listing the women's matches, I'll try and pick up the singles, but I'm sure CD and others will fill in the gaps.

If Jodie or Katie make the final of the 25K next week, which I know is unlikely on recent form, and scrape into RG then it will be one almighty rush to get to Paris. The final will be on Sunday, presumably in the afternoon (evening in France). They will then need to go through post match routine, take the half hour drive to Birmingham airport, wait for a couple of hours before a flight, get multiple overnight flights as there are no direct flights, probably spend an hour plus getting through customs and get to the hotel. On arrival at the hotel get a test and wait for the result before getting accreditation and permission to enter the grounds.
Actually, looking at Kayak, they wouldn't be able to get to Charles de Gaulle until after lunchtime Monday, possibly as late as 4pm. It could be 6pm before they get to the hotel. Sure they could ask for the match to be played late Tuesday but its not great preparation for a GS.
For what its worth, I think all this is academic as I don't think Jodie will make the cut.
As I said in my post...all will be revealed soon. There are rumours of lots of top players pulling out including Simona Halep...but we will soon see who is in and who is not.

Simona's is more classic though, isn't it, as she has a calf strain and said upfront that her participation was very much in doubt
