You won a 60k earlier this year, so promising choice of partner.

Em and You were one point out of a seeded place, but actually this is a better draw than the 4th seeds got, and they would play them in the QF if they get through. You is on a 10 match singles losing streak, but has had some doubles success this year.

Hopefully they can at least advance through a couple of rounds to the SF so that they reach points greater than Em's  current lowest counter of 25, though even 20 may well come into play in time. Em is due to drop 25 points (1/2 ×50) in each of the next 2 weeks in respect of 25K titles in 2019 so good points here would also help mitigate these.

Em ( with Sofia ) had a really good run in April/May 2019 and these points will be continuing to fall off through into June. I guess at least it's just 50% off for now.

Eden has popped up in France. Clever scheduling, its much weaker and the points difference isn't very much. She should probably win the title there.

OK, I won't nominate You for Player of the Month

Well spotted, I didn't even think to look at the draw in France as there were no Brits on the acceptance list. They appear to have a bye in the first round, but I'll check later before posting.

Raining hard, and only about three hours play there so far today. Doesn't look likely they will resume.

Wild Card for Fran

L32:- Marina Bassols Ribera (ESP) 328 [Q] v Francesca Jones (GBR) 188 [WC]

Ten points for the winner here.

Good to see her out playing again. This is exactly the right level of tournament to see how she is progressing.

Just saw that Fran has been underway a little while. Not the best of starts though, *0-4.

There is a stream.

First set bagel. She did at least get 19 points, so an average of 3 points per game (3 deuce games, the rest to 30), so possibly signs that she could maybe get back into it, as opposed to losing most games to say 15.

Fran loses 6-0 6-3. Opponent played a very clean match, but she'll be disappointed with what she brought out the locker today.

Hopefully she can play better in French qualies which will be a great experience for her.

Some great doubles in progress. Em and You lead 7-5 3-1*. Best I've seen Em play for a while.

Edit:- And they've stopped for rain .........

Soon wrapped it up after the shower cleared, but could have been even quicker.

L16:- Emily Webley-Smith (GBR) / Xiaodi You (CHN) CR383 (167+216) v Ariadna Briones Ginesta (ESP) / Annika Kannan (IND) UNR (UNR-19yo + UNR-19yo-JCH643) 7-5 6-4

QF:- Emily Webley-Smith (GBR) / Xiaodi You (CHN) CR383 (167+216) v Valentina Ivakhnenko (RUS) / Andreea Prisacariu (ROU) CR974 (476+496)

Have to say I thought their opponents were very solid and as you say it was a good doubles match. Felt you could tell You is a bit lacking in confidence and very uncomfortable on clay, and Em stepped up to take control at important times. 3 deuce points to break missed in the first set, and they missed 4 match points between 5-1* and *5-4, so could have been done quicker but they never looked in a panic.

Job done today, hopefully dryer quicker conditions tomorrow and they can do well.l

0-4*

Battled back to deuce in both service games, but as with yesterday not winning the sudden death points.
