Em drops the first set 6-2. Think she'll be a little frustrated by that, had break points in the third game, a game point in the fourth and another in the final game there.
Hadn't heard of the Spanish girl before, but she was progressing up the ranks nicely before the pandemic with some good wins. This is only her second event since the restart. Nice game, tall.

She's also playing with great depth, and finding the corners. Em showing a lot of variety - right fro the start there was serve and volley, chip and charge and dropshot/lob. Becoming more of a baseline slog now though.
She was absolutely out of it at 2-6 *0-2 break point down, astonished she won the second set. She never had a match point in the MTB but still ansore one after a big effort to get back into it.
A shame. I did tune in for the tie break and she had a decent lead early on, double mini break up at one stage I think, but then was hanging on towards the end, and saved a couple of MPs (and didn't have any herself).
I didn't see any of the main sets, which were split 2-6 6-4.
Em and You were one point out of a seeded place, but actually this is a better draw than the 4th seeds got, and they would play them in the QF if they get through. You is on a 10 match singles losing streak, but has had some doubles success this year.
