Week after week I see the name Carla Nokes appearing in one or more Alts list but she never seems to get into the draw. Looking at her past record she played in Chiswick in 2015 and then a couple of times in Sharm El Sheikh in 2020, all three times without success. She is 22 years old.
I won't quote CD as it'll affect the link, but I noticed something quite interesting the other day - while you would generally expect a player to win more times than not as a pre match betting favourite, pretty much all 16 of her 2021 matches to date have gone with the betting odds:
The only one that didn't was the SF with Lee, and even then she was under 2.00 / evens, at an average price of 1.94, so still odds on to win. So, she's pretty much beaten, and lost to everyone that the odds suggested. Whether that happens here remains to be seen, but hopefully that trend will continue.
Ah - there was one more, Spiteri, that she lost to, but still 14/16.

I would have far preferred the norm had continued too, Ace (hadn't realised it was usually quite so in keeping with the odds as that....interesting....). But I had a £1 on Fanny O - really not sure why Matilda was quite such a favourite.....

Yeah, Fanny wasn't in amazing form as you said earlier, but is experienced, higher ranked, and did beat a higher ranked jr (than Matilda) just last week at the same venue. She's obviously still learning, and results / ranking isn't massively important when that age (not 17 for another month), but that's a little bit of a losing streak she's developing herself now (even if some tough opponents), so suspect future ITF odds will be influenced more if that continues.
