Disappointing as a high seed, but was a bit of a banana skin as Pigossi had been in decent form this past year, including BJK Cup. Bookies had it reasonably close.
Someone mentioned the other day that Jodie had a 1 point counter, and you get 7 points for a W25 R1 win these days, so at least there is something to take from it, and hopefully she can have a more extended week next week.
SF:- Jodie Anna Burrage (GBR) / Paige Hourigan (NZL) CR643 (397+247) [4] v Conny Perrin (SUI) / Tess Sugnaux (SUI) CR879 (220+659)
Conny and Tess won after their opponents retired after just 6 minutes
I did actually watch that MTB, missed the first 2 points, so don't know if they were ever behind, but went from 1-1 to 6-2, to 6-6, to 8-6, 9-8*, and then the W on their 2nd MP.
I'd personally have gladly swapped a first stage doubles exit for one extra singles win, but it's good that she salvaged something from an early singles exit, she seems to be mates with Paige, so that's good for both of them, and if it helps her jump the queue regarding possible Wimbledon doubles appearances, then even better.
