British Tour 2021

I don't know what she gets up to on a week to week basis, or work/other commitments, but while Anna is obviously carving through her section to date, it seems a bit strange that she would show up to the East Midlands this week, but not last week for the UK Pro League? If it was a simple choice between the two, I know which one I would have opted for.

But was she invited?

I honestly don't know the selection criteria, and whether ranked players get prioritised, and then a few selected invitees after that, but if the likes of, well you don't need me to name them, they're obvious, can get in, I find it hard to believe that a fairly competent British 23 year old wouldn't get the nod if she wanted to play, and if the same 0/1/2-6 0/1/2-6 players are coming back repeatedly and automatically, then you'd think an adjustment to the selection process wouldn't harm at all.

It seems Angelina has actually lost her 1049 ranking this past week.

Probably wasn't able to play last week. Tier 2 winner's prize money is just £300, and UKPro appearance money alone was £500, so as Ace says, not a reason to choose this week

I often forget that, the prizemoney is v low in these events and it is often a week off work for those that arent pros or funded in some way, so I guess it can be a logistical and financial challenge/toss up to work out what to play.

It is hard at these levels and even with £500 in UK Pro League, if you are going to come out low down the final ranking, you arent going to make much money or even forego money, give up leave from work, pay for travel costs - so presumably it is only going to be those who are pursuing a pro career, have sponsorship who will play in many of the events we are discussing above

As an aside, I'm pleased to see events at both Felixstowe and Frinton this summer, both about 40 minutes from me. I may go to either, but it depends on the entry field. Most will be juniors and highly unlikely to be anyone playing with even an ITF ranking.

This week is the first of 15 tournaments between now and the end of August, which is good to see. Unfortunately they are all Tier 2, with just two tier 1 and a solitary Premier tier event at Sutton in August.

I saw Ilkley also had one, near me - so might get along to that one day. Seemed to be a full house of grass court events like those near you, TA, Ilkley, North Oxford etc etc.

I presume based on this they are unlikely to have a British Tour league table and Masters this year, no mention of one anyway, be interesting to see if one pops up after a couple of events have been played!

The women's event has followed the rankings, with Anna Brogan and Emma Wilson into the finals.

In the men's though, young Louis Bowden (age 16 and unseeded) is into the final, against Dan Little, seeded 4

Good to see young Hannah Klugman ease her way through quals as a QWC, will be interesting to see how she gets on in the main draw.

Looks like it was Marni Banks. She is on the players list, and is higher ranked than Nadia.

No, it was Tanysha Dissanayake, she must have withdrawn overnight. Marni withdrew last week before the draw was done.

Out of interest, how does one find the entry list? On the draw link the tab with entries just shows the seeds in the actual draws themselves rather than the full entry? I couldnt see how to reach the full entry for this or future events? Thanks !
