And so it proved. Em is broken to love to go down 3-5*, she breaks back to 40, but is broken to love again and goes out 2-6 6-2 6-4
Have to say, I didn't rate Tessah very highly before, and I certainly don't after her performances yesterday and today. She's very lucky to have made the main draw.
Yes, real shame for Emily. She came a lot, lot closer than most people expected.
And interesting to hear your take on Tessa, Paul.
She's certainly been one of those in the 'disappointing' camp - a lot made of her in France, as a junior, and when she shot up the adult rankings quite sharply as a 19 or 20 year-old. But always SO many mistakes, and really hasn't moved on at all.
Ten singles matches and two doubles matches on the order of play today. The first 9 singles matches have all gone to three sets. Em and Aliona are next up on court 2, but the match on there is only at 1-1 in the third, so going to be a late start.

Girls had *5-4 30-15 but broken although didn't do much wrong (Bolsova had a miss-hit on a short ball on that point but it was a bad bounce which was unlucky). Bolsova is a real fun partner.
Alla back from maternity leave and not lost any of that beautiful touch. She's doing a lot of the heavy lifting for a fairly poor Kalashnikova.
*5-6
Not that confident from here to be honest, feel they had to stick the set, but it's a good level overall.
Em goes does 15-40 on serve, they save all three (clutch from both on deuce). They go up 5-2* in the tiebreak but Bolsova misses a put away at *5-5, but they dig in, save set point four and Kalashnikova throws a nervous double in for *7-6. Good first serve from Em, and Bolsova makes no mistake this time.
