That's such a disappointing draw for both Katies. Can't believe how many Brits are drawing each other at the moment.

Far from certain that Katie S will beat Udvardy!

I was going to say similar. I know what ST means, in the sense that it's a bit disappointing that, as seeds, both now can't make the main draw (unless there's a LL opening), but a long way to go before that potential match up. Udvardy seems to be in decent form this year, and is the slight betting fave.

I remember watching a few of Yepifanova's matches during her US Open jr run to the final a couple of years ago (eventually lost to MCOS who has started to get good results on the WTA scene in recent weeks), but she hasn't really set the world alight yet as a pro (obv very young having just turned 18), and is a fairly big underdog against Katie B, although should be more used to green clay.

Katie B is on one of the two streamed courts.

It's great that there is streaming, especially for qualies (and a Brit covered), but a bit disappointing that it doesn't look like there will be the usual quality USTA streams, with Ken Thomas commentating for this event, unlike previous bigger US ITF events.

Shame for Katie B - she's just 22 points in the rankings behind Elkeri who is seeded 8th.
Going to be interesting to see what kind of form Katie S can find, not having played a match since she retired from Boca Raton in February

Katie S underway, a very early break apiece. Match before Katie B's is well into a MTB.

Katie S dropped her first set 5-7.

The old Google scores were showing Katie as *1-2, but it's now *2-1, so all good. I assume there must have been a close call, and a subsequent manual check, on game point for Yepifanova. Think I'll now watch a bit of this match in the background.

Katie B seems to have pulled clear since that potential incident. Just taken the first set 6-1, and the opponent never past 30 in any of those final 4 games. Hopefully she can continue where she left off in the second set.

Katie S loses 75 63. Lost 13 of the last 14 points and the point she won was a double fault.

Not a surprising result, but she's back playing, and has a couple more weeks on the green clay and hopefully will find her way back.

Others seem to have predicted Katie Swan's fate rather more accurately than I did. I'm disappointed with the result but I think she's shceduled to play again next week so hopefully that will go a bit better.

Katie B did win 6-1 6-3 though.

I'd rather they had met in the FQR, so that both would at least have something to show for it, and we would have another guaranteed main draw GB entrant, but I guess at least there will be no split loyalties for most/all. Once the draw was made, I probably was hoping that Katie B would come through of the two, so hopefully she can see off Udvardy tomorrow and make the main draw.

And yes, hopefully better luck for Katie S in her future upcoming events.

Harriet is seeded 7th and a tricky opener against Verónica Cepede Royg.
