Loses 6-1 6-1. Was broken from 40-0 at the start of the second which sort of ended hopes of getting back into it. 11 of the 14 games to 30 or deuce, so actually fairly competitive.
Hopefully a good performance in doubles this afternoon, not before 4pm on the same court.

Oh dear. She really is only a doubles player now and perhaps the 3 hour marathon took it out of her the other day.
I think Em will take what she can get from singles. But for a long time now her schedule has been very much about doubles. She no doubt likes giving it a go, with the odd nice win and still a top 500 ranking, but I doubt she has any real singles aspirations.
Good she got the one singles win. No surprise re R2.

Bit harsh.
She's 37, never been any good on clay, and playing a woman ranked 150.
Whereas her own CH is 240, from 10 years ago.
The fact that she has had some competitive matches with decent players, and won some, is great.
The thought that this is a disappointing score is daft (in fact, the bookies were quite daft in even giving her a chance, and that's not supposed to be mean)
Em and Sofia not wasting any time in their doubles. They take the first set 6-1 in just 21 minutes, only dropping 2 points on serve.
And they had three break points in the game they didn't win
