Yay, Rafa. Already WR 444 is her highest singles ranking since 2016 and she should push it up a bit more with overall so far a net 3 points increase from this week.

Signs of growing confidence.........

Mandy Minella, seeded 5, in the next round,WR187. Lost her last four matches, including last week in Oeiras. That is a really tough match.

Em and Sofia due next match on Court 3 - hope she gets a decent rest after that 2 hours and 39 minutes battle.

Looked a potential banana skin and so it's proving. First set quickly down 6-1, missing 6 break points, opponents going 2/2.

Ach, had a gut feeling when I saw the draw but thought it would be more competitive than 61 62. Disappointing given the field, hope for better next week.

For those on Instagram, Em has posted the details of a conversation with her mum during the rain delay in her singles. It's lovely.

Sashi and partner got a walkover in the QF.

I wasn't even able to follow that on live-scores, as I've been on the phone most of the time. Very disappointing.

And I missed Sashi in the doubles draw - will post a catch-up later.
