In a seesaw match that turns into a ghastly spectacle of attrition in the 3rd set, Hibino cramps first but Doi cramps worse. Doi comes back from 1-5 in the 2nd, saving 2 match points, and leads 5-2 in the 3rd, but ends up retiring down 5-7 7-5 6-6(0-1) to Hibino.

Will be surprised if Hibino and Doi are fit to play tomorrow.
Naomi + have now been given a W/O. Martincova retired in her singles match yesterday, and 15 y/o Linda was looking like she was struggling a bit in her match in the evening, and had the physio out late on, so it could have been either of them, but straight through to R2 anyway.
Edit - straight into the QFs.

Not a great performance with an excellent draw for this level. Played better last week. Out 6-4 6-1.
Yes, not a great scoreline, particularly after that start.
Tara (& Emina) will now drop a net 12 ranking points on Monday but that will then be the last points they are due to drop until September. So hopefully they can have a productive summer and push their rankings up.
We do get 18 year old Clara Tauson vs 19 year old Maria Camila Osorio Sorrano in the QF tomorrow, as touched upon on the Bogota thread. The latter came through another tough battle today, in addition to her title win last week, so hopefully she has enough left in the tank to make a good match of it.
