Em has a tough match against an experienced clay-court specialist 279-187 out of 355-231 matches overall. Di Sarra is seeded Q6 by the way.

Eden's opponent is the opposite with clay court record 19-13 out of 321-226

Em lost 6-3 6-1. She did fine. Deserved the 5th game of the second as well but Di Sarra got a dead net cord on Em's game point.

Eden lost the first set 6-4 and down *2-1 in the second. A real tussle though, lots of deuce games and she's only 1/7 on break points.

Eden lost 4 & 2. I didn't manage to see any of it as I was returning from the office.

Em played pretty well, but found the net too many times, and got frustrated with herself.

On to the doubles - draw out this evening.

Em will now have a full set of 16 singles counters ( she has 43 doubles! ). Now 17 of the GB top 20 will have a full set, two will have 14 counters and Emma has 9. Elsewhere I have seen 48 counters in both singles and doubles. 

Going to be 'fun' for everyone when all these additional counters more than a year old start fully dropping off.

Both play tomorrow on streamed courts. Em and Sofia on the absolutely beautiful sunken bowl centre court. It looks such a lovely facility, worthy of a bigger event.

I imagine it's where the Portgual/Estoril Open used to be played. Sure that was in Oeiras for a while.

 im sure thats correct - Jose morgado had various photos on Twitter last week during the mens challenger here and Im sure that was mentioned
