I might watch the full game (not match, Inverdale) back on Prime, but that's not particularly great.
Edit - it really is shocking. The first point was a DF, so that's *0-15, undisputed, then an unforced error into the net to make it *0-30, which the umpire calls. The rest is on the video, but Sharma then wins the next point, on an inspection, but it then magically goes to *30-15 instead of 0-40* what it should be, so basically 2 points are just taken from Sharma and given to GGM for no reason at all. Imagine if that was a British player, like say Harriet last night, and we were all watching, eagerly anticipating triple break point, only for her to then actually lose the game a minute later. Crazy.

It was quite bizarre - I may have this wrong but...her opponent was serving at 0-30. Sharma won the point and it should have been 0-40. The umpire however got the score wrong and called it 30-15! He must have got 0-30 transposed to 30-0 and then it went from there. Sharma or the Italian opponent didnt query it, the Italian won a point and I think it became 40-15 and not 15-40. Then Sharma won a point to win what should ahve been game but instead it was called 40-30...no one queried it but Sharma did gesture I think. However, they played on and the Italian won the next point and the game (it should have been deuce). Sharma at this point queried it with her team but it basically stuck and that was it
I may have one or two scores wrong but the basics are correct

Yeah, I've just watched on Prime and edited my post, but that's basically it. You could argue Sharma should have been more assertive, but then it is in the decider of a tight, at that point, match and that's basically one of the key jobs for the umpire to do, ha. Sharma then went on to lose the next 4 games.
the thing is, the WTA supervisor told Sharma effectively it was her own fault, learn and keep score next time.
this is pro tennis, at the top of the game, not ITF Tour. The umpire should be totally responsible and Sharma should not have to keep her own score. Ridiculous
Congrats to 19 year old MDWC Osorio Serrano who ended up taking the title here, which I think is her first above W25 level, and only dropping one set in her 5 matches. I enjoyed watching her throughout the week. Nice to hear some passionate fans in the crowd, definitely added to the spectacle.
She herself was very vocal after pretty much every point, including opponent errors, but it really is strange - when you're wanting someone to win, it didn't bother me at all, yet if it was the other way round, then it would be very annoying, ha.
Yep, I thought she might have withdrawn this week after taking the title, and wasn't expecting much when I saw her leg fairly heavily strapped against Linette, but great to see her carry on her form, and that R1 win was possibly better than any she all last week.
Hopefully she gets past McHale tomorrow to set up an exciting 2019 US Open Jr champ vs 2019 AO Jr champ QF with Clara Tauson (who has already booked her spot).
