Week 14 - UKPro League - Week 3, Loughborough (Indoor Hard)

Millie Mae trains at Loughborough I think?

Absolute screamer from Danielle to win the first set tiebreaker 7-5, gorgeous backhand down the line.

Liz has taken the first set off Freya.

Fine margins as Millie was 5-3 up in tb and danielle hit it into the net hard but popped over for dead net cord winner. Then didnt lose another point.

Interesting to see how she gets on. I see they have her the exact same odds to win as the other Millie (1/4).

Can't see mmm losing to Kim. Mille Mae is very consistent so unless Kim can match her or overpower her while remaining consistent enough I can see that one being quite one sided.

Yes, both matches may still have legs - it was pretty close in the first set in each one (and have cashed out on both, Ace, even though Eliz seems to be cruising slightly now)

But, like PaulM says, Dani has some absolutely creamer shots - it's been a pleasure watching some of her matches in the past few months.

Millie comes through 11-9 in the MTB. Great match.

Dan had a match point (or two?) in the second set TB but ended up losing the MTB 9-11

She played a few really tight shots just at important times (dumped the MP into the net on a regular shot, missed a few easy, short shots in the MTB)

Millie barely did anything apart from run well, and make her play.

Shame for Dani but hope she can work on the closing in some more match play.

Sonay retired after dropping the first set 4-6 to Emily. Ab issue again, same as yesterday, during her match with Alice, so it's Emily vs Eliz again in the final. Not sure if we'll see Sonay vs Freya in the 3rd / 4th.

Mmm wins in 3 sets, so I wasnt right about one sided. Saw the second half of  mtb from 5-4 to mmm, mainly consisted of one player getting it back the other making unforced errors.

Not been following too closely but after a relatively poor week 1 , Eliz Maloney seems to have really stepped up in this event. Anyone know what happened in that first week of the Pro League or how shes turned it around. Or is she now playing at the expected level, as I didnt really know much of her prior to these last few weeks.

Looking at the league table, Eliz could have secured her classic weeks place alongside Emily A, certainly with a finals win today she must be pretty much a certain qualifier? My guess is still 36 will do it in mens and womens tables,

Yes, she did have a poor week 1, but has now really stepped up a level, and looks well under-ranked. Since the first week she has only lost one match (against Emily and she's beaten her since then).  Here are some ranking statistics from the WTA

WR679 Freya Christie 45 points from 13 tournaments

WR728 Emily Appleton 38 points from 21 tournaments

WR1112 Tanysha Dissanake 10 points from 4 tournaments

WR1156 Eliz Maloney 9 points from5 tournaments.

So a few more tournaments for Eliz and I would expect her to climb quite quickly

And happy birthday, Eliz, 20 today

Good stats TA! If she can do 10 events at say 5 points average , shed be pushing 60 points from 15. Top 500?
