Q1: JONES, Francesca (GBR) 1 213 (CH=206 2021) v Bye
Our girsls seem to be making a habit of applying late and ending up as Q 1st seed. It will look particularly odd if she wins the title tomorrow and then enters the Q event of an equivalent tournament the next day.

We notice it with our players but it has been happening a lot. I think it's because of travel restrictions, players are finding it too much aggro to go back home so decide to stay on. It's probably easier for Fran to travel to the continent from Argentina than to come back to the UK and then go to her next tournament.
Yes good idea for Fran to take this option after not being able to go to Bogota as planned. Also means if she is selected for BJK Cup (and has to withdraw from events next week and potentially the week after if she would be in qualies) she's still got a good competition block under her belt.

Im sure the players must know if they are playing unofficially . Anne K wouldnt keep fran hanging around in South America if she intended for her to play , surely ?

Well Harriet is in Charleston so I don't see an issue with that
Naiktha made hard work of it against the Argentine Fed Cup player. Was *5-3 up on the third and lost 8 points in a row, then eventually broke in a 6 deuce game to take the match 63 36 75.

It is good to see her out there competing and winning some matches. I feel the W25 is about her level right now.
