The National Men's Team Indoor Championships will be held at University of Washington, Seattle from Feb 18th - 21st (Women's event is 11th - 14th at University of Wisconsin, Madison).

British interest:

Florida -- Joshua Goodger

Georgia - Hamish Stewart

Kentucky - Millen Hurrion

South Carolina - Toby Samuel, Connor Thomson, James Story

Stanford - Arthur Fery

TCU - Jacob Fearnley, Lui Maxted

Texas A&M - Matthis Ross

Tennessee - Johannus Monday, Emile Hudd

Wake Forest - Ben Draper

I'll look to add the team rankings after the men's ranking run tomorrow.

JohnH wrote :  Thanks Tennpar - good strong set of players there, to add to the womens. Is Ben Draper related to Jack, or is that coincidental?

Keen to see how Arthur Fery is developing, clearly he is the standout player after last seasons exploits...

Day 2 Mens indoor(quarter finals) I have pinched a few quotes from CR

No. 5 TCU def. No. 13 Texas 4-0 TCU won the doubles point with both Jake Fearnley and Lui Maxted winning. Jakes #5 singles went UF. Maxted did not feature in the singles. Texas has had a very disappointing start to the 2022 season. The 2021 NCAA semifinalist is 6-3 with losses to Florida, Arizona, and Baylor.

No3 Tennessee def. No. 11 South Carolina 4-2. Tennessee won the doubles point and Jo Munday and Emile Hudd won their singles at #2 and #3. SCs James Storey also won his singles at #5, all that training at Memphis paying off? SC has been one of the more volatile top teams to start the season. They looked sluggish in surviving their Kick Off weekend regional, escaping Duke 4-3. They turned things around a week later with an impressive 5-2 win over then #6 Wake Forest only to fall a few days later to #23 North Carolina. They came up short today.

No. 1 Ohio State def. No. 8 Wake Forest 4-0 Ben Draper lost his no 3 dubs for WF 2-6

No. 2 Baylor def. No. 7 Kentucky 4-3 Baylor won the dubs. Finn Bass won his singles at #5. Kentuckys Millen Hurren lost at the #1 singles 6-4, 6-3 to Boitan. For Kentucky to have had a shot against Baylor, they needed to take doubles (which they lost) although they did win 3 of the top 4 singles!!

CR predicts: Ohio State will solidify their #1 ranking by winning their third ITA Indoors title. The Buckeyes have the best doubles in the country and I dont think theres a team that can find four singles indoors against them.
Tennessee gets my vote as they have a couple of Brits on the roster wink

I've seen a lot of those players live, when 17 or so, as juniors at Bank of England or Surbiton, and in British Tour events for some (remember a completely over the top, disgraceful set to between Ben Draper and Adam Thornton-Brown at a British Tour event in Sutton, I think it was - and Mr Draper senior who was watching seemed to think it was quite amusing)

Enjoy following how they're doing. Thanks again, EP

These players are in my sons cohort, so also seen many of them at tournaments or training. Its interesting to see their progress from Juniors through college and how popular the college route is. My son is in grad school now, so I dont recognise most of the names from the 2022/23 signings and I will probably stop following college tennis once hes finished.

Funny how the disgraceful behaviour of both players (and parents) sticks in your mind - hopefully because it doesnt happen that frequently. To quote E69 often the apple doesnt fall far from the tree biggrin

Semi Finals Mens indoor

Following spirited quarterfinal play on Saturday at the Nordstrom Tennis Center and Seattle Tennis Club, Sundays semifinal matchups are set. Top-seeded and ranked Ohio State meets No. 5 TCU, while No. 2 Baylor and No. 3 Tennessee square off in the other matchup.

Currently Ohio State and TCU are tied at 3:3. TCU won the dubs point, Freshman Lui Maxted won #6 singles (7-5,6-2) whilst Jake Fearnley lost the #5 singles. Its 1 set all at no 3 singles and Im off to bed - Go Frogs

Mens Indoor Semi finals continued

Ita a win for the TCU Frogs who defeated OSU 4-3

The other semi finals match was Tennessee vs Baylor
CR said:
Coach Woodson couldnt have created an easier draw for his Bears if he drew it up himself. To the frustration of a few, I havent been impressed with Baylor to start the season. Their doubles has been a mess (dropping a point to Idaho State), the top 3 hasnt looked that dominant, and I still have questions about Miladinovic and Bass at #4 and #5. Baylors win over Texas depreciates in value as Texas continues to struggle and Baylor barely scraped by a short-handed Virginia team. Luckily for the Bears, they shouldnt face any real competition until the semifinals.

Tennessee took the doubles point and went on to defeat the Bears 4-2 . Emile Hudd won his #3 singles, beating Baylors Sven  6-4, 7-6 and Jo Mondays #2 singles went unfinished. Baylors Bass lost the #4 singles 6-4,6-4

Great to see both teams in the final have British interest - so its a win win as far as Im concerned. smile
