The player who retired to Eden, Emina Bektas is Tara Moore's girl friend.

 Actually, they're married

When did they actually get married. Tara had a previous girlfriend who she was engaged to but presumably they didn't get married.

I might be wrong but I thought they got married about 2 years ago (Wiki says she's married but that's hardly gospel). But I'm pretty sure she never married Conny Perrin, her previous partner, that was just a long-term relationship.

Think it was on the Pune thread a few weeks ago that it was discussed as we were talking about green cards and travelling. Once you apply for a green card in the US you can't leave the country until the process is completed .

Tara stopped playing doubles with Conny, and started playing with Emina just over two years ago, so that seems to agree with the two year period. I remember seeing something at the time, but doubt if I could find it now.

Eden ended up facing a MDWC in the main draw, but one that would have been a high seed in quals, and seems to be in fairly decent form.

Jodie got that young Swiss qualifier who benefited from Tara's retirement.

Anyone fancy a GB Vs GB R1?
think Tara and Emina will play doubles despite retiring in their q singles? Tara did seem to be retiring a lot at one point in time from singles matches.

Well I hope we do get a GB v GB tie, but it won't be first round, as they are in opposite halves of the draw !

She's been in very poor form since the restart (it's now 17 defeats in her last 20 matches), but the initial (5th) seed in Jodie's section, Indy De Vroome (#204), has just lost in the first round to another (non local) MDWC, Zakarlyuk. Despite that form, Indy was still the circa 1.42 (just under 1/2) favourite to win that match, so Jodie's path to a potential QF doesn't look too bad on paper - a Q and WC, both outside the top 400. Hopefully she'll come through fine.

Jodie took the first set 6-4 but is 2-5 down in the second

Lost the second set 6-3. She was 4-2 down in the first as well, so having a real battle.

Saved a BP in that last game. 5-2* at the moment.

Three aces in that game for 5-2. And finishes with an ace for 6-3
Good to see her serving well, 5 aces and 65% first serves in that final set.

Well done Jodie. First win back after a niggle never easy.

Again, not wanting to look too far ahead, but I see 2nd seed Raina, #169, retired when leading (of sorts) 6-1 1-4 in her R1 match today. She was a potential QF opponent for Jodie.
