Victoria Bosio is one of those ex-top/practically top juniors who's never really made it in adults.
She got up to JR 12 as a junior.
But has never made top-300 in adults and is now 26, has been playing 15ks in Turkey all 2021 - and losing pretty much straight away, in R2 or the QF at best.
Naiktha might not be on great form and Bosio is on home soil but this has to be Naiktha's match....
Marie Benoit is a trooper, age 26, very solid, plays a lot of events, has come up against GB women quite often, but is very fairly ranked, certainly no 'false' ranking there.
You'd hope that Fran would have too much power for her.
Marie was the highest ranked unseeded player. Both in the bottom half, and these are their respective paths.
(6)Daniela Seguel (CHI) v Q
Gabriela Ce (BRA) v Q
Naiktha Bains (GBR) v (wc)Victoria Bosio (ARG)
(3)Yuki Naito (JPN) v Despina Papamichail (GRE)
(5)Francesca Jones (GBR) v Marie Benoit (BEL)
Conny Perrin (SUI) v Q
Valentini Grammatikopoulou (GRE) v Q
(2)Nuria Parrizas-Diaz (ESP) v Q
TA mentioned that one of them was pairing with Conny in the doubles (possibly Naiktha as I don't recall Fran playing much dubs), and she is a potential R2 opponent for Fran. That number 2 seed has been in really good form recently at this level.

It is Naiktha playing doubles but dont forget Frans recent amazing run down under , all the way to a semi or was it final in a wta 250!
I did completely forget Jon, and yes, SF in that Phillips Island 250. Having just checked, that was only her doubles tour event since 2017, and she's just played 2 events since 2016 - 3 match wins and 2 losses in that period.
Mind, Bains was the 13/8 or 2.63 pre match underdog at Bet365, so not really a surprise in that respect, plus, Naiktha's ranking is pretty much exclusively built on what she did in 2019 - as mentioned on the Wimbledon WC thread, she has only won 4 of her 14 matches since 2019, and only one of those wins were against a top 500 player.
She has however broken straight back again, to be fair.

With Katie probably not too far off starting, and other WTA/ATP matches going on in Miami, I can't see there being too much demand, however, there is actually an ITF site stream for this:
