Not a very inspiring match, neither of them are playing particularly well. First serve percentages around 50%, lots of balls going long.
Well Katie has a break but Pliskova has had BP on both the previous service games so I'm not too confident here. Having said that Katie did used to have a habit of starting slowly.
Lol at your last sentence. She still has that habit!
Get in. Huge win for her for where she currently is.
I started a rant earlier but then she broke while I ws halfway through so I deleted it. Hopefully this match will go someway towards match fitness which is sadly lacking in most of the GB Women currently

Haha, I've been guilty of doing that too in the past.
As has been mentioned previously, a really tough match against Mertens next, so it probably won't go much further, but at least she does have some reward for this PR, whatever happens.
Mertens record has been scary consistent since the restart. She is 33-9 in her last 42 matches, always seems to win 3 or 4 matches, but then lose to the first real top end player she faces - those 9 defeats consist of Halep, Osaka, Azarenka, Ka Pliskova (I'll leave her in), Azarenka again, Sabalenka, and Muguruza most recently. It's only really Muchova and Garcia (in front of her RG crowd) where she would have perhaps been the fave, so unreal consistency. Hopefully that ends next though.

Katie must have sensed your rant coming and broken on purpose to rattle your theory - well done, you, good timing !
Unfortunately, match fitness doesn't seem to help all our players - Naiktha has played tons of events and barely won a match.
Katie obviously is in a slightly different position to most, too - her chronic fatigue syndrome has to be managed in a specific way and must be quite a challenge.
But definitely great to see her chalking up a very good win - KP will not be pleased with her level, I'd have thought, in the latter half of that third set but that's life and all that
