Excellent well done her. Makes it 2-0 British players over China today. Bet the Chinese are pleased they arent playing Italians !

Brilliant! I really didn't expect that third set - she'd invested so much fight and energy to get that first set and save so many break points in the second before Zhu finally got in front that I thought the Chinese woman would get a lift and motor on. But Harriet really dug in, attacked every point, and absolutely deserved the win. Even when there were a couple of sticky moments (missed a point or two for *5-1) she dusted down and moved on.

Really classy performance, delighted for her. Some beautiful hitting, lovely winner to finish it.

Getting inspiration and tips from Steve Bruce's post match interviews I see biggrin

I was the same. The way the second set ended, Harriet getting a bit more frustrated, a few racket taps. I'm not sure who took the comfort break, but it was pretty long, immediate break in the decider, Zhu *40-15 on serve, I was fearing she was going hold and crack on, and win like 6-2/3, but it was the complete opposite, ha. Great stuff.

Harriet 2nd on Court 7 tomorrow following Pironkova vs Govortsova, which starts at 2pm UK. I do think it's a step up despite it being against a lower ranked seeded player than todays opponent. I personally see Martincova as a bonafide top 100 player despite her having never actually cracked that milestone. She has been pretty consistent and impressive since the restart.

I didn't realise the main draw started today. I always thought it was Wednesday for some reason, although I may have heard that with regards to the men's competition, which does start tomorrow. Katie B isn't on the schedule today, and neither is Heather, obviously, because her Q opponent hasn't been determined yet. 12 R1 matches today from 3pm UK.

Bit strange to start R1 before Qualifying finishes.

On the subject of streams - please could anyone advise me on coverage this year. I subscribe to Amazon Prime anyway, but I took their free offer of Eurosport add on earlier inn the year. I forgot to cancel that and am now paying. Will Prime and BBC (for Wimbledon) be enough this year or should I hang on to the Eurosport subscription ?( I don't watch any other sport than tennis). Thanks for any help

Betting sites are covering quals, and thus, the usual dodgy sites like jokerlivestreams and the like will cover them. I've mentioned them a few times, so it'll come across like I'm a rep or something, but honestly, signing up to Unibet, depositing a fiver, and just watching their streams, not actually betting if you're against / don't like that sort of thing is really handy for a tennis fan. You can get the matches full screen, the quality is fine, you don't need worry about virus', your stream isn't going to cut off and you have to start scrapping around for another.

WTA qualifying coverage used to be few and far between, and only a few select tournaments would have streams, but since the turn of the year, I think Unibet has had qualifying coverage for every WTA event, and it's been a godsend. I had Harriet on my phone full screen last night and then casted it to my telly, and the quality was pretty much spot on, and had another match on the laptop.

Sounds like a grand evening !

I went onto Unibet for the first time following your recommendation (and, yes, I know you're not a rep!)

I only have Bet365 which covers nearly everything - but not the WTA qualis.

I might set up an account - as you say, it costs nothing, as such - you don't lose the money. (It should obviously be avoided if you think it might lead to a problem - I sound like elf and safety, but people know what I mean, and everyone has to know their own demons).

Do you think the quality or anything else about unibet is better than Bet365? Or is it the same but they also show WTA qualis?

How was she playing. I'm hoping that now she's had a few matches she'll start playing a lot better
